The Real Estate track incorporates classes that focus on the business aspects of real estate as well as urban analysis and sustainability. Students must complete the following four classes (for a total of 10 credit hours) to meet the track requirements.
- REE 6045 Real Estate Decisions (Formerly FIN 6934)
- This course provides an introduction to real estate with a focus on property rights (legal considerations), financial/investment analysis, and market (or location) analysis. The primary objective is to show how to make effective real estate decisions. (3)
Faculty: Ron Rutherford - REE 6207 Real Estate Finance (Formerly FIN 6934)
- This course provides an advanced treatment of the mortgage markets, including coverage of the primary and secondary mortgage markets, securitization of mortgages, valuation of mortgage securities, and commercial mortgage analysis. (Prerequisites: Financial Management, Real Estate Decisions). (2)
Faculty: Ron Rutherford - REE 6305 Real Estate Investment (Formerly FIN 6934)
- This course introduces students to the procedures and analytical methods used to evaluate real estate markets and real estate investments. It focuses on the topic of real estate investment primarily from the private investor's (equity) perspective. (Prerequisites: Financial Management, Real Estate Decisions). (2)
