Sean Lux
Visiting Assistant Professor
Sean Lux is a visiting assistant professor teaching graduate-level courses in entrepreneurship at the USF Center for Entrepreneurship. Lux currently teaches Venture Capital and Private Equity, Business Planning, Advanced Topics in Entrepreneurship, and Strategies in Technology Entrepreneurship to MS in Entrepreneurship and Applied Technology and MBA students.
Lux’s research examines how individual actors gain competitive advantage through shaping their environment as well as how governments can optimize entrepreneurial activity through policy. His work has been published in the Journal or Management, Academy of Management Conference Best Paper Proceedings, and the Handbook of Organizational Behavior.
He has a PhD in Management from Florida State University where he taught Business Strategy and Policy and Contemporary Leadership. He earned an MBA from USF and a BS in Civil Engineering from Norwich University. Lux then received his commission in the U.S. Army and served with the 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry, 1st Battalion, 8th Field Artillery, and 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry. He has also held numerous positions in companies ranging from high tech entrepreneurial startups to the Fortune 500 gaining experience in marketing, operations, audit, general management, and business development.

- Currently working on several papers related to corporate political activity including a meta-analysis with T. Russell Crook at the University of Tennessee
- Completed a study on how political skills affect social network development with Jerry Ferris at Florida State University and Bob Baron at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
- Currently undertaking a study of the Fortune Best Company Rankings with Michael Barnett at Oxford University
