James Hensel
Associate Professor
Associate professor Jim Hensel teaches courses in service quality and marketing strategy. He has received USF’s Outstanding Professor Award three times and received a teaching excellence award by the Executive MBA program. Hensel has designed and taught management development courses for corporations and industry groups such as GTE, Goodyear, Robert Shaw Controls, Honeywell, and the National Association of Hosiery.
The coauthor of two books in marketing, Hensel has published articles in numerous academic journals, including the Journal of Retailing and Journal of Advertising Research. Hensel has presented and published papers in academic publications on managing patient perceptions, medical service quality delivery, and hospital marketing. He has made numerous academic and trade presentations and participated in American Marketing Association conferences.
Hensel holds a PhD from The Ohio State University, an MBA from Miami University, and a BA from Ohio Northern University. He previously served on the faculties of Virginia Commonwealth University and Arizona State University. He also served as a senior consultant at Management Horizons, a division of PriceWaterhouse.
