Jianping Qi
Professor
Jianping Qi has been a finance professor at the USF since 1993 and has been a holder of the Bank of America Professorship since 2000. He was also a visiting finance professor (1992 and 1997) at Washington University in St. Louis. Jianping teaches courses at all levels, covering corporate finance, financial options and futures, and advanced finance theory.
His research focuses on financial intermediation and corporate finance theory. He has published articles in very high quality journals such as the Journal of Finance, the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Business, the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, the Journal of Financial Intermediation, and Management Science. Jianping won the College’s Outstanding Research Award in 1997 and 2004. He referees numerous top finance or economics journals and is a member of the editorial board of Investment Management and Financial Innovations.
Qi earned a PhD and an MSBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He also earned an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and a BS from Tsinghua University, China.

Current Research
Jianping’s research focuses on financial intermediation and corporate finance theory. He has published articles in very high quality journals such as the Journal of Finance, the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Business, the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, the Journal of Financial Intermediation, and Management Science. Among Jianping's current research, one focuses on the link between product market competition and corporate governance, and another examines the relationship between integration of financial intermediary markets and the intermediaries' incentives for monitoring.
Service
Jianping is a member of the editorial board of Investment Management and Financial Innovations. He has been a member of the program committee of the Financial Intermediation Research Society. Jianping has also served as ad hoc referees for numerous top finance or economics journals, including the Journal of Finance and the Review of Financial Studies.
